He is also a practicing architect in New York City where he co-founded Briggs Knowles Studio in the fall of 1997 with Laura Briggs. He took part in the RISD Solar Decathalon House in 2005.
Natasha Makowski is a freelance architect and consultant. She has worked with Green Design in both her architectural work and her public arts projects, notably with the Boston Cyberarts festival. She is currently involved with the 2007 MIT Solar Decathlon House, and is advising on renewables design concerns. Betsy Goodrich is co-founder of MANTA, a product design consultancy. She develops consumer, medical, and sporting products for clients including iRobot, Philips Medical, and Eli Lilly. She is the past chair of IDSA’s Ecodesign Section. She's also been involved in the partnership between the EPA and IDSA to develop educational programs to further the knowledge of eco-design techniques. Dr. Joseph Chiodo is an industrial designer who has worked in the R&D of eco-design and product disassembly. He invented 'Active Disassembly' (AD). This technology employs conventional and smart materials in the design of releasable fasteners and actuators to aid recycling of products. AD facilitates nondestructive recycling of consumer products, giving clean segregation of dissimilar components. Jaime & Isaac Salm. MIO was founded by the Salm brothers (Isaac, the numbers guy and Jaime, the design guy) with the objective of combining business rigor with environmentally and socially progressive design. MIO’s success is the result of Jaime and Isaac’s vision and the contributions of hard working and creative designers, interns, manufacturers, engineers and business professionals. Amelia Amon’s company, Alt.Technica, designs solar products and installations, including exhibits for science and environmental centers. She is co-founder of the o2NY EcoDesign Network, on the board of the NE Sustainable Energy Assn., and a former chair of IDSA NYC. Her focus is an aesthetic approach to the integration of emerging energy technologies into our built and natural environment. Steve Bolton is manager of business development at MBDC. He manages the firm’s activities on projects for various clients, as well as oversees overall firm communications and marketing. His responsibilities include developing project proposals and goals; tailoring the Cradle to Cradle vision for clients; delivering presentations on Cradle to Cradle design; and helping establish strategic direction for MBDC. Stephanie Howard has just embarked on a new path in her career. Having spent the last 12 years as an industrial designer in the athletics industry, and the past 6 with Nike, she’s now the Creative Director at Seventh Generation A company that is embracing social responsibility in all facets of its business, and is now building a future focused on innovation with a cradle-to-cradle vision. |
